There are many ways to be involved at FirstSF! Check out the list below for just a few of our many ways to serve!


FirstKids & FirstYouth Ministry

Are you interested in investing in the next generation? We are always looking for servant leaders that want to provide a safe and loving environment for our kids and students to grow. We have needs that range from checking in families to teaching age-appropriate lessons to just hanging out with students. For more information about these ministries, click Kids or Youth.  


Hospitality

A warm, welcoming environment on Sunday mornings help set the tone for our worship experience. This team shapes a person's first impression of our church by providing a friendly welcome, helpful directions and building meaningful connections to our church. 


Music & Worship Arts

We want to make an impact through music and the arts. Whether that is through singing in the choir or worship team, playing instruments, acting, dancing, painting or media there is a place for your creative expression to be used and to make an impact for Christ. Urban Outreach Ministry

Each Wednesday we host a Bible Study and dinner for the urban poor of our city.  If you have a heart to minister to those who really need to hear a friendly word, feel a kind touch and speak to a kind ear then we invite you to serve with us. Adult English as a Second Language (ESL)

If you have a heart to witness to the nations and can speak English, then being a part of Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) may be for you.  There are opportunities to help in welcoming and registering students, teaching English, providing snacks, and building relationships through conversation.  Training will be provided as needed.  Classes meet on Wednesday evenings and follow the SFUSD calendar, meeting from September through May.  ESL Classes are 7-8:30pm and conversation/snacks are 8:30-9pm.  You can come by on any Wednesday evening to experience ESL first-hand or contact the ESL staff at esl@firstsf.com.

We choose partnerships that are strategic in how they make disciples within the Bay Area. We love our  city and are so expectant of how God will use our partners and

Alpha Pregnancy Center is a loving, supportive organization that helps women and families in the Bay Area face unexpected pregnancy.


Because Justice Matters

Because Justice Matters is a ministry of Youth With A Mission in San Francisco and works to end injustice by taking a stand against modern-day slavery, domestic violence, discrimination against immigrants, and economic inequality.


Joni and Friends Disability Ministry

Joni and Friends maintains offices across the U.S., including a local office in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Bay Area office is working together with local churches and organizations, forming outreach programs throughout the community and ministering hope and the message of Christ to those who face the daily challenges of life with a disability. The Bay Area office is committed to reaching individuals and families affected by disability in our community with the love of Christ.


Calen & Sheryl Thomas - San Francisco International College Ministry - International Students Inc.

There are over 12,000 international students and scholars in San Francisco. When asked what would they like to experience while in America besides an education the first response is, "To make and American friend". Help us show hospitality and even befriend our visitors. Wilfred & Carolina Selvaraj - YWAM Nations 2 Nations

Wilfred & Carolina Selvaraj along with their daughter Zion are inner city missionaries to San Francisco from India. They serve with YWAM N2N reaching the poor, homeless. the immigrant families and children. They offer support to those experiencing isolation due to economic and cultural challenges. Also bringing hope to women who are victims of sexual exploitation and domestic violence.

Caprice A - Connect with Muslims in SF

There are almost equal numbers of Christians and Muslims in the Bay Area. That means we have a unique opportunity here to show love and connect with Muslims from all over the world. One of our Local Partners, Caprice wants to help you connect with the Muslims here so that you have the chance to understand them better and love them well. She's been working to find opportunities for this for 3 years now. From new immigrants to tech professionals, she wants to introduce you to the diverse group of Muslims of the Bay Area. Let's show them that we are willing to make the effort to reduce fear and barriers so that we may show them the love of Jesus. For more info, email capricejoyce@gmail.com

We believe in working with those who have a heart to share the Gospel throughout the world. We engage in true partnerships that reach beyond borders and work in areas where

Jesus has yet to be proclaimed. During the past 166 years, FirstSF has been a church that has sent out many to proclaim the Gospel in some of the hardest places on earth. We look forward to sending more as we seek to join God in His work.

The International Mission Board

First SF has partnerships with 7 IMB missionaries. They are located throughout Asia and we are so proud to support them as they seek to share the Gospel in unreached areas. The International Mission Board's mission is to make disciples of all peoples in fulfillment of the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20. Over 6,000 people groups - 1.7 billion people - still live with little or no access to the Gospel.  


Gotta Go

Our partner with Gotta Go has been touching lives for Christ for over 10 years now. Through her heart for the most vulnerable in our world she is seeing lives change in one of the most persecuted areas of East Asia. Gotta Go seeks self-sustaining, self-replicating, Gospel-powered transformation of entire communities in unreached areas of Asia. They offer the Gospel through deed and Word to these forgotten, tossed aside, unloved, and once considered worthless. 


Ripe For Harvest

Our partner in East Asia is working to plant churches, train indigenous leaders and care for the orphan within her region. Ripe For Harvest World Outreach is a inter-denominational mission sending agency, one of a limited number of mission and church organizations that extend to an individual missionary the opportunity to participate in his or her mission placement. Our vision is to put into practice Ephesians 4:12, “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” And in so doing we are responding and fulfilling our Lord’s prayer request: “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Mt. 9:38, Luke 10:2).
